Jedi Master Qui-Gon jinn
Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn was one of the most important Jedi in the saga. As the man who discovered Anakin Skywalker, it was he who started it all. Qui-Gon Jinn trained as a Padawan under Jedi Master Count Dooku, who later turned to the Dark Side. Qui-Gon has reluctantly had many Padawan of his own, being a Jedi Master. His first Padawan was Feemor, a human Jedi who was temporarily seduced by the Dark side in order for another of Qui-Gon's Padawan, Xanatos's revenge. Xanatos was Qui-Gon's second Padawan, who was corrupted by his father's wealth, and then angered at his death at the hands of Qui-Gon. This was enough to turn him to the dark side, and so then he did, and went up against his former master in a battle, which then ended in his suicide, because of his refusal to surrender. Qui-Gon was saddened at his former protege's fall, and refused to take another Padawan for many years, accepting solo missions. Yoda then persuaded him to take Obi-Wan Kenobi, and he reluctantly did, for fear it would happen to him what had happened to his former Padawan. It didn't happen, and Obi-Wan grew to be one of the greatest Jedi of all time. He temporarily took Anakin as a Padawan, and also Master Yoda, as a Force Ghost. Qui-Gon was an unconventional and maverick Jedi, who often disagreed with the Council, and therefore was refused a seat. "Do not defy the Council, Master, not again." "I shall do what I must, Obi-Wan." - Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. Although Qui-Gon could be rather opinionated at times, he was nevertheless a great Jedi, with revered lighsaber skills, wisdom greater than that of many Jedi, a strong Force connection, and a huge compassion for lesser beings. (That is why he put up with Jar Jar Binks.) He was killed during the Battle of Naboo, by the Sith lord, Darth Maul. His dying words told Obi-Wan to train Anakin.
